Copps Trip 3/30/11 $8.54...88% OFF! + Rolling Gift Card Idea! :-)

Copps Trip 3/30/11 $8.54...88% OFF!
Today's early morning Copps trip worked out pretty well & we're certainly well stocked on cereal again!  I did this trip in three transactions (see details below).  Also, I'm always about trying to find ways to make things easier & less complicated.  I've recently been thinking up a way to simplify the $25 minimum purchase requirement (per transaction, in order for coupons to double).  I often buy a Copps gift card to be sure I've met the minimum, & that's fine.  However, with each transaction, I'm standing in the store double checking my math (based on shelf price), sorting my items & coupons into separate transactions in an attempt to meet the requirement & spend as little as possible out of pocket.

My new "Rolling $25 Gift Card Idea":

Today, I bought & kept three $25 Copps gift cards.  With each future transaction (up to three at a time), I plan to buy another $25 Copps gift card & pay for the first portion of the transaction by using one of the $25 gift cards I just bought (basically "rolling" the gift cards & zeroing out that portion of the transaction).  In doing this, I won't have to worry about being sure I meet the minimum $25 subtotal.  I'll just need to be sure I'm using up to 5 double-able coupons in each transaction.  It seems this should work pretty well...what do you think?

Also, I recently received cash back on groceries from the credit card I was using which totals the $75 I spent on the gift cards...so no additional $ out of my $200/mo. grocery budget to buy the starting gift cards! :-)

Here's what I chose to buy today.  To see more details about these transactions & more Copps deals available yet today see Copps Deals Week of 3/24/11 - 3/30/11! .  To learn more about shopping and saving at Copps see Store Tips & Policies: Grocery Stores:

Transaction #1:

+ used two $1/2 coupons, doubled
+ used one $0.70/1 coupon, doubled
= $4.55 ($0.91 each box) + received FREE milk coupon to be used in future order

Menards Trip 3/25/11 (Crazy Days)...$0.00!

Menards Trip 3/25/11...$0.00 after rebates!
Menards is having a "Crazy Days Sale" this weekend 3/25 - 3/27.  See the ad on the Menards website HERE.  My favorite deal is the All He Detergent.  You can get 32 loads of detergent for $0.99 each (after rebate) (limit 3)Wow!  I also grabbed their batteries (30 ct. of AAA & AA) for $0.89 each after rebate.  I then paid for all of these items with prior rebates!  Yay!

$0.00 to subtract from my $200/mo. grocery budget for this trip! :-)

Here's how to do the Menards rebate thing:
1.  Purchase the items (and quantity) offered with a rebate (it's clearly stated in the Menards ads)
2.  A "Rebate Receipt" prints out at the bottom of your receipt with a Rebate # (such as #4616)
3.  Find the matching rebate slip (by the same number) at the Customer service desk. Or, if you forget to pick up the rebate slip, just print from Menards website.
4.  When you get home, put the following into a stamped envelope (address is on the rebate slip) Rebate receipt + rebate slip (add your name & address to the slip...I typically use a pre-printed address label to make this even quicker) & send off!  Also, if you have several rebates to send that are going to the same P.O. box, you can save a stamp or two by using the same envelope!

~ In around 6-8 weeks, you'll receive a Menards credit check in the mail (which does not expire)...valid toward any future purchase at Menards (including other rebated items!) You don't even have to use your rebate checks in full...you can use part of one and they'll just write the new value on it for you for next time! :-)

~ If you ever want to check the status of your Menards rebate(s), you can visit www.rebateinternational.com to get an update!

Another ALDI Trip this week...The Strawberries Look Great Today!

ALDI Trip 3/25/11...$8.80!
Well, I took an extra ALDI trip today (when I was nearby on a few other errands).  I have been loving the oranges I bought yesterday and decided I really wanted to get another bag at such a great price!  Also, I wanted to find out if they got a new shipment of strawberries in...which it seems they have!  I am happy to report that this new shipment is looking MUCH better!  I bought 3 more lbs of strawberries (which I plan to wash and freeze for use in smoothies, etc.).  I also grabbed a few more staples while I was there.  To see prices on these items, visit my earlier post: ALDI Trip 3/24/11...$10.55!

I'll be subtracting $8.80 more from my $200/mo. grocery budget.

After my trip to ALDI this morning, I made a quick stop at nearby Hy-Vee.  Since the $0.99/lb. strawberries at ALDI weren't looking so good this morning, I grabbed some of the $1.18/lb. strawberries at Hy-Vee, instead, today.  For more deals available at Hy-Vee yet this week, see my earlier post:  Hy-Vee Deals Week of 3/20/11 - 3/26/11!

ALDI Trip 03/24/11...$10.55!
I made a trip to ALDI this morning to be sure I got a chance to snatch up some of the great produce deals they have this week!  So glad to have some more fruit on hand now.  I did find, however, that the $0.99/lb. strawberries they had at Madison's East Side store were not good (most looked bruised and/or moldy...ew!).  So, I decided to grab the strawberries at nearby Hy-Vee (for $1.18/lb.) insteadInterestingly, the cantaloupe at ALDI for $0.99 each looked a whole lot better than the $2.50 cantaloupe at Hy-Vee.  ALDI may even get a new shipment of strawberries in later in the week that could be fantastic!  You just never know... (UPDATE: The strawberries at ALDI were looking a whole lot better the next day.  See 3/25 Aldi Trip HERE.)

Here's what I chose to buy today:
2-Skim milk, 1 gallon, $2.09 each

Copps Trip 3/19/11 $7.56...51% OFF!

Copps Trip 3/19/11 $7.56 after gift card...$51% OFF!
I had a nice trip to Copps yesterday. It was pretty busy by the time I got there, so I kept the trip a little simpler....just one transaction.  I didn't save quite as much as I have been lately, but got some great deals on many of these items.  The Leinenkugels is what brought the % down the most, I think...but I did get a great deal on the cheese with that purchase.  I'm pretty happy with anything at or above 50% savings for items my family can use as long as I stay within my new $200/mo grocery budget for my family of five.  I also used the $15 gift card I purchased during my last trip
