Copps DOUBLE Double Day Trip 5/28/11...72% OFF!

Copps Trip 5/28/11 $41.47...72% OFF!
I managed to get myself up & out of bed to hit Copps DOUBLE-Double Day early, this morning!  It was interesting that the Wednesday ad stated "DOUBLE-Double Day" for 5/28, but the newer ads available in store today simply stated "Double-Day" by today's date.  As I went through the check out, the cashiers saw all my (up to 10 per transaction) manufacturer's coupons doubling, & said "Oh, I guess you can double more than five today!" So, it seems they had been unsure about whether it was a DOUBLE-double.  Glad it was! :-)

For these deals and more available at Copps this week, see my earlier post:  Copps Deals Week of 5/26/11 - 6/1/11!
To learn more about shopping and saving at Copps, see: Store Tips & Policies: Grocery Stores

Not my favorite Copps trip...

Copps Trip 5/25/11

I was thinking this would just be a simple little trip.  It didn't quite go as I had planned.  I'm feeling a little crabby about it, to be honest.  It was a busy, congested aisles type of trip.  Long lines at the register, etc.  Certainly not my favorite time to shop.  They were out of the soy milk I was planning to buy & I realized (at the register) that I had the wrong gum coupons.

I usually look at each of my coupons to verify that I have the correct item/size prior to going to the register.  Today, thinking I'd just breeze through the trip, I neglected to double-check....and paid for it (literally) at the register, where I made a last minute switch to the correct product ($1.49 "5" gum instead of $1.00 "Stride" gum). ;-(

Here's what I chose to buy today:
1-Roundy's Milk 1%, 1 gallon, $2.29
= $2.29

1- Fresh Express Garden Salad, $0.88
+ used in ad coupon to get sale price
+ used $1/1 coupon, doubled up to reg price of $1.29
= $0.41 moneymaker

4-"5" gum packs, $1.49 each
+ used two $1/2 coupons, doubled
= $0.49 each ~really just wishing I hadn't bought this.  I've never tried this gum, though...maybe it's worth $0.49?  My (almost) teenage daughter thinks it's great, though.  She said this gum is "black" in color.  Should be interesting.

1-Best Life Spread, $2.00
+ used $0.50/1 coupon, doubled
= $1.00

1-Haagen Dazs Coffee Ice Cream, $3.00 ~I'm going to need this. ;-)
+ used $1/1 coupon, doubled
= $1.00

~ used Rolling Gift Card Idea: purchased a $25 Copps gift card to be sure my coupons would double & also used a $25 Copps gift card from a prior trip to zero this cost out.

Total Spent: $6.06 to subtract from my $200/mo. grocery budget
Total Saved: $11.24 (65% OFF!)

ALDI Trip 5/20/11...$22.56!

After a quick stop at Hy-Vee yesterday, I also made a stop at nearby ALDI.  It was nearly supper time and the supreme pizza was definitely calling my name.  If you haven't tried ALDI's Mama Cozzi's take & bake pizzas, I do recommend trying them.  The pizza above was just $6.99...and was delicious!

Hy-Vee Trip 5/20/11...$8.85!

Hy-Vee Trip 5/20/11 $8.85!

I made quick stops at Hy-Vee and ALDI yesterday. The 12 pack of coke was only $0.99 during their NOWWOW event from 4-8pm last night.  Usually, when I get the NOWWOW deal text messages, I don't plan to be near Hy-Vee during the limited hours the sale is available.  Spending extra money on gas to get a great (but limited) deal just doesn't make much sense.  However, yesterday, I lucked out!  I was going to be driving right by! Yay!

Here's what I chose to buy at Hy-Vee this week:
1-Diet Caffeine Free Coke, 12 pack, $0.99
+ showed cashier NOWWOW LU# to get sale price!

2-Chef Boyardee Whole Grain Pasta, can, $1.00 each

= $0.50 each

4-Palermo's Classics Pizzas, $1.80 each
+ used two $1/2 coupons
= $1.30 each

Total Spent: $8.85 to subtract from my $200/mo. grocery budget

Wow!: Copps DOUBLE Double Day...TODAY!

I just came from Copps, where the cashier told me it was DOUBLE-double day today, 5/21/2011!

This means you can double up to 10 coupons per transaction (All other doubling rules apply.  See details here & check in with your store's customer service desk to verify.)  I'm guessing this applies to all Copps stores today, but can't be sure.  So, check in with your store!

Not knowing about the double-double day, I had prepared two transactions (using 5 doubling coupons in each).  However, I accidently placed one product in the wrong transaction.  Luckily, the cashier noticed this.  So, I ended up checking out with four doubling coupons in one transaction and six in the other.  They all doubled!
Maybe I would have purchased more if I had known ahead of time!  Not sure I'll make another trip back again today, though...we'll see.

Stay tuned!  I'll be posting my actual Copps trip from today & two trips from yesterday (Hy-Vee & ALDI) soon!

Sentry Deals 5/12/11 - 5/18/11!

Some of the Sentry Grocery stores in our area allow doubling of coupons on certain days of the week.  The doubling policies vary quite a bit from store to store. So, it's always best to check for details at your store's customer service desk.  For those of you who do have a Sentry store nearby that doubles coupons, check out the great list of Sentry deals for 5/12 - 5/18, 2011 posted by Building Shangri-la!

Copps Trip 5/14/11 $7.08...75% OFF!

Copps Trip 5/14/11 $7.08...75% OFF!
I stopped off at Copps & Kwik Trip today.  Unfortunately, I didn't get to Copps as early as I like to.  It was very busy once I got there & I was feeling a little discombobulated, too.  I forgot to bring one of the cut back coupon book coupons (for the Colgate) & with the busy-ness, I wasn't in the mood to go get another book from customer service.  I also forgot to get a rain check for the Ball Park Franks (which were already sold out).  Maybe I'll get a chance to get both of those deals on Wednesday of this next week, though.  We'll see.

For these deals and more available at Copps this week, see my earlier post:  Copps Deals Week of 5/12/11 - 5/18/11!

1-Roundy's Eggs, 1 dozen, $0.88 (limit 1)
= $0.88

1-Morning Star Farms Chicken Patties, 4 ct., $3.01 (at 30% off)
+ used $1/1 coupon, doubled
= $1.01

2-Ken's Dressing, $2.00 each
+ used two $1/1 coupons, doubled
= FREE!

1-Skippy Natural Peanut Butter, 15 oz., $0.98
+ used cut back coupon book coupon to get sale price
= $0.98

1-Gain Laundry Detergent, $4.99
+ used $1/1 coupon, doubled
= $2.99

~ used Rolling Gift Card Idea: purchased a $25 Copps gift card to be sure my coupons would double & also used a $25 Copps gift card from a prior trip to zero this cost out.

Total Spent: $7.08 to subtract from my $200/mo. grocery budget
Total Saved: $21.05 (75% OFF!)

Later today, I made a quick stop at ALDI.  I was hoping to find some better produce deals (we could use some more fruit!).  They do have Whole White Mushrooms for $0.49 this week (great price!)...but I already have lots in the freezer.  Yes, the Clancy's Ranch Tortilla chips (ALDI's version of Doritos) were calling my name (I really shouldn't stop by the grocery store right before supper!)...

Hy-Vee Trip 5/15/11...$4.94! Whoops! ;-)

Yep...I was in a hurry!  I must have taken this picture with my phone upside down!
I made a quick stop at Hy-Vee as I drove by this morning.  My kids go through peanut butter like lightning!  So, I just had to grab this great deal!  I figure the upside down picture adds a little visual interest...so I'm leaving it.  A little quirky, I know! Oh, well...

What else do you really need? ;-)

Here's my quick trip to Copps today.  See my Walgreens Trip from today HERE, too!  I got home just before a big thunder & hail storm hit our area.  I decided it was time for us to get some beer again (we've been out for a while)...& justified it a little by buying the "canned" variety this time (which was on sale for a few dollars less than the bottled).

1-Roundy's 1% milk, $1.98
+ used in ad coupon to get sale price
